Metal Flocking Adhesive

Water-based flocking adhesive direction for aluminum, steel and coated metal parts.

Product Overview

Metal flocking projects are usually limited less by surface energy and more by cleaning, oxide layer, primer choice and corrosion resistance. The recommended adhesive route depends on whether the part is indoor decorative, optical, automotive or outdoor exposed.

This page is written for application screening and sample discussion. Final performance should be confirmed with the buyer's substrate, process route, test method, and acceptance standard.

Typical Applications

  • Aluminum alloy flocking
  • Steel decorative parts
  • Metal optical parts
  • Hardware surface flocking

Key Features

Oil and oxide layer control

Metal substrates wet more easily than PP/PE, but oil, oxide layers and old coatings can still cause adhesion failure.

Decorative and optical metal route

Decorative and optical metal parts should define cleaning, primer and aging requirements before choosing the sample route.

Aging and corrosion-risk review

For outdoor, humid or industrial use, adhesion after aging or corrosion-related exposure should be considered.

Testing Suggestions

Test on the real molded part, paper, foam, hanger, glass or metal surface instead of only a flat reference panel.Record cleaning method, surface activation or primer route, flock fiber, application method, drying temperature and drying time.Check flock loss, peel or scratch behavior, abrasion, heat aging and humidity aging according to the buyer's use condition. For PP/PE, flexible PVC, silicone or rubber-like substrates, discuss pretreatment and aging targets before requesting a final TDS.
